On the 2nd of May, the student horse races take place in Gosforth Park, Newcastle. This year, it’s not just the races, there are also fairground rides and DJs throughout the night.
But do not worry! Anyone can go to this event, not just Newcastle students, in fact you do not even have to be a student. However, being a student has its advantage as ticket prices are cheaper.
As the event is in spring, the sun is usually shining, this means us girls can wear skirts and dresses without worrying about the cold. The races have a fashion expectation for prestigious clothing, although it’s much more relaxed at the student races.
When I attended these races last year, most girls were wearing all types of dresses; frills, patterns, bright colours, neutral colours, maxi and mini dresses. Some girls even kept it casual with just a skirt and top. However, i strongly recommend going all out, it is fun to get all done up with your friends!
